INK! Print Rally | Call to Artists

On September 8th, 2018 Emerge will host the second annual INK! Print Rally in the parking lot of our downtown Coeur d’Alene gallery.

From 3-9pm, community members will enjoy interactive
printmaking booths with activities for all ages, local artisans and makers, live music, food trucks, and a beer garden.

In the center of the parking lot, large-scale prints are created all evening
using 8’ x 4’ carved wood panels, an asphalt roller, and bed sheets.

This year, we are exploring the theme of resilience: why and how individuals, families, communities, and environments adjust to challenging life events, structural adversity, and natural processes and disasters.

The theme is analogous to the process of steamrolling sheets of carved wood: bearing stress upon fabric, ink, and wood to create a piece of art that speaks of the artist, the context, and the process.

We look to understand processes of adaptation; and how resilience knowledge can be used to support well-being. We invite you to share your interpretation of resilience and join us in this special event.

Emerge is a collective art experience engaging all members of the community in a variety of high quality creative outlets, while offering a platform for emerging artists to cultivate their careers as professionals.

We rely on the distinct insight and skill of local artists, patrons, and
neighbors to not only support but shape and influence Emerge’s identity as a community art space.

We are eager to learn about your unique perspective as we endeavor to build a resilient Inland Northwest community through shared art experiences.

INK! Print Rally
Artist Guidelines

Please submit an image file of your print concept to emergecdasubmissions@gmail.com using the following
subject line: INK submission: First name last name

Image files should be at least 2MB but no larger than 4MB.

Concept submissions must be received by Monday, June 18.

Artists are responsible for supplying and carving their own 8’x4’ MDF wood block in advance.

Emerge will provide the ink, rollers, sheets, and additional supplies during the rolling process, plus volunteers will be on hand to assist artists in preparing their print.

Artists are asked to participate in the full duration of the event, including assisting other artists.

Set up: 1:00pm
Event: 3:00-9:00pm
Tear Down: 9:00-10:00pm

Emerge will provide lunch and water to artists.

Artists may also sell artwork during the event. If you wish to take advantage of this, please include a brief description of merchandise with your submission.

Artists selling work are required to supply all booth materials (table, tent, extension cord, etc) and contribute a 15% commission.
