Work in 2D media of your choice as we explore the sublime and experience the pure excitement of making creative work that comes from a place of ultimate authenticity. This class is intended as a safe environment to push the limits, take chances, and have an impactful critique. Emphasis on individual attention and personal artistic exploration for each student based on individual needs and expectations".
This class is all about growth and developing artistic techniques - varying skill levels are welcome. Instruction will be individualized based on each student's starting point and goals.
If you are an experienced artist, Paul encourages you to bring examples of past work (digital or physical) to show and provide a starting point for growth. All supplies will be provided. However, if you've got supplies at home that you're comfortable with and would like to work with during this class you're more than welcome to bring them. Additionally, please wear clothes that are okay to get messy.
Due to a high demand for classes, we are not able to issue refunds unless a class is cancelled.
Coeur d’Alene artist Paul Light Jr (born 1966, Atlanta, GA) developed an interest in American Abstract Expressionist painting at an early age, which, has continued to be an influence in his life and work. He works in a painterly, soft-edge style creating vibrant, deeply emotional paintings that are full of controlled energy and deeply layered with purposeful marks. Many of Light’s paintings are large-scale works that invite the viewer to encounter and experience them personally rather than to merely observe them from a distance. His work has been in many group and solo exhibitions in galleries and museums such as The Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia in Atlanta and the Quinlan Center for the Visual Arts in Gainesville GA. His paintings are frequently used as props in major films. Light received his MFA at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA.
