POP-UP SHOW: 2021 BLOCK PARTY
It’s summer and that means it’s Pop-Up season!! Emerge is gearing up for its 8th Annual Pop-Up Show, happening July 23rd from 5:00 pm to midnight. The show is a unique art experience for the Coeur d’Alene area that has become a much anticipated event. We hope you have experienced the show in the past and are excited as we are for it’s return.
This show is unlike any other event happening in Coeur d’Alene for many reasons. The Pop-Up not only features local visual artists but also film and performance artists. We reach out through local schools, supporting galleries, art groups, and small businesses to find a wide variety of local artists, and provide support and development workshops to help artists prepare their work in a professional way. The art is selected for this show by a panel of professional artists and members of the arts community. Each year the show has been a greater success than the year before, with over 3,500 people walking through during the last event, it captivated a wide and diverse audience, making a true community gathering.
While Emerge shows usually feature three to four artists, this show is typically held in unique off-site spaces in order to have the capacity to safely feature over 100 local artists. However, since we just recently opened our doors back up after the devastating fire that took place in our old space at the beginning of 2020, we have decided to do this year’s show in our new space! The location provides thousands of square feet of space for the art display, installation rooms, interactive art spaces, bar, and large performance stage, with a full line-up of music from up-and-coming local musicians. This year, we will have two additional music stages along with our main band stage; one being a SILENT DISCO and one for hosting poets and solo acoustic musicians.
Not only is this event an incredible platform for local artists, but it is also one of Emerge’s biggest annual fundraisers through art and merchandise sales, donations, bar proceeds, and community sponsorships. It is at the heart of the Emerge mission to provide low cost to free arts education to youth and adults in our community. The funds raised during the Pop-Up Show will be used to cover the cost of our monthly art exhibits and supply materials for art classes. They also allow Emerge to continue providing individuals with professional development support and tools to further their careers in the arts.
