4th Annual INK! Print Rally | ARTIST ONLY 2020
On Sept.12th, 2020 Emerge held the Fourth annual (ARTIST ONLY) INK! Print Rally at Gizmo located at NIC in downtown Coeur d’Alene. From 1:00 to 7:00pm, artists had the chance to get together to steamroll the final prints of their 5×5 carved woodblocks.
This year, we explored the theme of Awakening. noun. the act of waking from sleep. a revival of interest or attention. a recognition, realization, or coming into awareness of something: a rude awakening to the disagreeable facts. a renewal of interest in religion, especially in a community; a revival.
The theme was analogous to the process of steamrolling sheets of carved wood: bearing stress upon fabric, ink, and wood to create a piece of art that speaks of the artist, the context, and the process.
We were beyond blown away with the turn out of incredible prints and elated/grateful for this get together of talented artists, despite the hazardous smoke of the 2020 fires and the overall doom of this year.
