Pottery Classes

Emerge has a fully functional pottery studio including 10 pottery wheels, a kiln, and a glazing station. Classes are available year-round and have options for potters of all ages and skill levels.

Standard pottery classes run for 6 weeks. Students have 3 weeks after the end of their class session to finish trimming and glazing their work. Open studio hours for currently enrolled students are Wednesdays and Saturdays 1pm - 4pm.

Studio Memberships

Emerge also offers monthly studio memberships on a limited basis for students who have taken more than 2 classes in our space. Please email programming@emergecda.com if you are interested in becoming a member.

Kiln Rentals

Have pottery you'd like to fire? We can do it!

Kiln rentals are available for anyone firing a cone 05 bisque or cone 6 glaze. If the clay you're firing is not purchased at Emerge you MUST get approval from a staff member or instructor prior to dropping off work to be fired.

Shelf rentals are $35 and whole kiln rentals are $75

When renting a shelf we fire your work alongside student work. In order to avoid accidents greenware must be 100% dry prior to firing and glazed work must be cleaned according to our studio's policy. Glazed work cannot have any glaze on the underside of the piece and must be wiped 1/4 inch from the base. Please inform instructors or staff members of any glaze that may run during firing. 

In addition to our pottery classes, Emerge hosts a wide variety of other classes in our classroom space. We offer everything from basket weaving to traditional drawings.

Emerge has a fully functional darkroom located in our studio and classroom space. This space is available to rent, $20 for a half day or $40 for a full day, chemicals and paper not included. 

Emerge also offers introductory courses on a limited basis that cover the basics of darkroom usage and photography development.

Please email programming@emergecda.com if you're interested in scheduling a rental or introductory course. Rentals must be scheduled 2 weeks in advance. Orientation is required prior to scheduling. 

Emerge offers private gallery rentals and private class bookings. This is a great option for birthday parties, staff parties, or team building exercises. 

We offer private pottery parties or printmaking workshops for 10-15 people. For other activities, our gallery can comfortably fit 30-40 people.
