4-week course. Thursdays 10am - 12pm. January 9th - 30th
In this specialty course, local ceramic artist and tea-maker Jennie Knutson will share with students her love for both artforms. Students in this class will make a set of tea-cups, learn all about different tea blends, and spend the last day of class enjoying some fresh-brewed tea in their very own hand-made cups!
This class is for all skill levels, students new to the studio will receive extra instruction and for those with experience, this class is a fun way to get some extra studio time and enjoy some amazing tea. Students will have the option of throwing or hand-building their cups.
Ages 16+
Please reach out to use if you feel you have a younger teen that would do well in an adult setting. Scholarships are available for any students 18 and under, courtesy of CDA Arts Commission and United Way of North Idaho. APPLY HERE.
Course Overview:
Week 1: Throwing/hand-building a small set of cups
Week 2: Trimming, decorating, and adding handles
Week 3: Glazing
Week 4: Finish up any extra work and enjoy some tea with Jennie
Included in this course: 12.5lbs of clay*, tools, studio glazes, and the firing of all finished work.
*In order to not waste materials this class starts students at 12.5lbs of clay; most people will not need more. For students that do need more we sell clay for $15 per 12.5lbs, it can be purchased at any time. All students are welcome to use our recycled clay free of charge.
We offer 1-2 monitored open studio times each week. Open studio times are currently Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1pm - 4pm. All work made in this class must be finished within two weeks of the last day of class. Out of respect for our limited storage space, finished work must be picked up within 30 days of firing. All abandoned work not finished or picked up within this timeframe may be recycled or thrown away.
We do ask that students provide their own TOWELS. We recommend a small dish-sized towel, but a full-size towel works as well.
Due to a high demand for classes, we are not able to issue refunds unless a class is canceled.
